       THE RESULT somehow seemed
       preordained as an understrength
       women’s rugby league side sealed
       their first-ever round draw in
       the prestigious Challenge Cup
with an historic 16-20 win over
       Cutsyke RFL.
The win, taking place at Lincoln
       RFU, was played in extremely
       testing hot conditions, with
       temperatures reaching 20 degrees
       before kick-off at pitchside.
         The major victory comes off
the back of historic success in
rugby union, (see page 31), and
repeated success, the second IS win
in three years for the LRT (Ladies
       Representative Team) football and
is another huge shot in the arm for
       women’s sport in the RAF.
The result also marks the first
time an RAF rugby league women’s
team has been entered into the
       Coral Women’s Challenge Cup in
       the association’s 25 year history.
         Team captain Flt Lt Linda
Mclean said: “This was our first
to secure a place in the first round
of the Challenge Cup and it took
       a very spirited and hard-fought
comeback in the second half to
ensure our place in that draw.
“Given this was the first game
of our season, with new faces and
       some experienced players missing,
       the team played well together
in a display which gives us great
potential going forward this season. ON THE CHARGE: Above, RAF players prepare for another attack, below, handing off a
